The water tanks at our homes should be cleaned after every 2-3 months of interval. It can be a very difficult task but one of the most important things to ensure good health.

Drain the water tank completely

The first and foremost thing to do is to empty the water tank. All you need to open the valve and let it drain completely. As most of us use permanent water tanks at our homes, we just need to open the washout valve of the tank. You can buy high quality brass valves that are made by the house of Waterman.

Scoop 5-10 litre water in the bottom of the tank with a bucket

The outlet valve is usually fitted 1-2 inches above the surface of the tank. You can scoop a little amount of water in order to clean the surface of the water tank.

Use detergent and a scrubber

Exactly like cleaning utensils, all you need to add detergent in the water scooped in the bottom of the tank after cleaning out all the sand and dust.  Now clean all the portion of the tank with the scrubber and detergent water. It will take half – an hour in order to clean the whole tank.

Use plain water to end the cleaning process

The last and important step is to throw water in all the corner of the tank to clean the detergent from its surface. The detergent will come slipped onto the bottom of the tank. Use a clean cotton cloth to soak all the water into a mug. Repeat it until all the water get soaked completely.
