Krishna Consciousness is an awareness and an affection for the Supreme Being, Krishna. To be Krishna Conscious is to be a devotee, Bhakt, and be on the path of Bhakti. Bhakti (the path of devotion) states that the highest duty of man is to do that, which generates devotion to Krishna; devotion which is motiveless, which is unyielding to any obstacle and which fills the heart of man with peace.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

ISKCON at its core is an institution that promotes pure devotional service towards Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. ISKCON comes under the Gaudiya-Vaishnava tradition which has philosophical foundations based on the teachings of the Bhagavad-g\u012bt\u0101 and Srimad Bhagavatam which promote the bhakti yoga tradition that helps us to rekindle our love for God, Lord Krishna. God is all famous which is why He has innumerable names like Jesus, Allah, Rama and, Govinda. Our of His compassion for us all that Supreme being is easily acessible to all of us through the chanting of the maha-mantra: Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare\/Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. This mantra which has proven effective in transforming millions of lives throughout the world is an encapsulation of our devotion and therefore is an integral part of our daily practices. Leading scholars, academics, and famous personalities have recognized ISKCON\u2019s authenticity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on various occasions has praised ISKCON\u2019s contributions towards uplifting human consciousness throughout the world. Diana Eck, a well-known academician and scholar of Comparative Religion and Indian Studies at Harvard University, describes our movement as \u201ca tradition that commands a respected place in the religious life of humankind.\u201d In the 1980s, Dr. A. L. Basham, a renowned authority on Indian history and culture, lauded ISKCON, noting that it emerged from obscurity in less than two decades, becoming a noteworthy chapter in Western history.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (1896-1977) is widely regarded as the foremost Vedic scholar, translator, and teacher of the modern era. He is especially respected as the world\u2019s most prominent contemporary authority on bhakti-yoga, devotional service to the Supreme Person, SriKrishna, as taught by the ancient Vedic writings of India. He is also the founder-acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.Srila Prabhupada, as he is known to his followers, translated and commented over eighty volumes of the Vedas\u2019 most important sacred bhakti texts, including the Bhagavad-gita\u2014a concise handbook for understanding the purpose and goal of human life\u2014and the multi-volume Srimad-Bhagavatam\u2014an epic biography of Krishna, Krishna\u2019s avatars, and His many devotees throughout the history of the universe.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is Bhakti Yoga for today\u2019s age. A global spiritual movement, a mission, to make the world aware of the Supreme Lord, Krishna, and to foster a deep devotion towards Him.
